Pelloby’s service department are committed to helping you get the most from new and existing cranes and a big part of this involves ensuring these systems are safe for use at all times.
Our Crane Inspections and Thorough Examinations are LOLER recommended frequent checks on lifting equipment that help guarantee workplace safety, maximise uptime and optimise performance.
Jib, Gantry & Overhead Crane Inspections
Crane inspections are required on an ongoing basis to ensure safe working practices are being carried out in regards to lifting systems. The type of crane inspection required and its frequency will vary depending on what sort of crane you’re dealing with and how often it’s used.
Simple pre-use checks, for example looking for wear and tear on lifting slings and chains, can take place daily, whereas more formal crane inspections by external experts might take place on a quarterly, monthly or weekly basis.
Pelloby can send experienced engineers to your site as and when required to carry out a standalone inspection or can work with you to devise a suitable inspection schedule. We also offer preventive maintenance and service contracts under which we will proactively keep you updated well in advance of when you’re soon to be due for a crane inspection – these contracts also entitle you to 10% discount on all subsequent repair and spare part requirements that an inspection may advise.
Crane Thorough Examinations
Another important element of a responsible crane maintenance programme are Crane Thorough Examinations. More detailed and systematic than a standard crane inspection, thorough examinations are recommended by LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) guidelines to be carried out on all workplace cranes once or twice a year by a competent perosn. Again the precise thorough examination frequency will vary for each crane and every application, but our service team will be more than happy to advise you on best practice.
Pelloby offer thorough examinations carried out by experienced engineers that carefully review all elements of your crane or lifting system, including all safety critical parts. Upon completion of the thorough examination you receive a detailed written report on:
- the potential risks of the crane in the workplace
- areas of defect or damage, their severity and the steps required to resolve them
- quotations for repair work and spare parts required
Advice on further preventive maintenance which can be undertaken to eliminate or lessen the effects of future issues arising will also be provided. This can help you avoid crane breakdowns occurring which can endanger staff and result in costly disruptions to day-to-day operations.
