As one of the UK’s leading suppliers of jib cranes, we manufacturer systems to suit all manner of applications. Here we take a look at a project we undertook at Yarmouth Harbour at the Isle of Wight, providing a 360 degree power slewing five tonne safe working load harbour crane for a busy quayside.
The function of this crane was to provide dockside access to the various boats using the harbour on a daily basis and as such the jib arm required a 360 degree slewing motion.
Due to the often adverse weather conditions associated with operating machinery such as this in a marine environment, this post jib crane was galvanised and epoxy painted to ensure continued longevity of use.
Thanks to our expert jib crane design capabilities we were able to produce detailed renderings of exactly how this system would both look and work during the quotation and design phases of the project. Pelloby pride ourselves on providing fast and accurate jib crane quotations at all times.
Below is one of the renderings produced for this particular crane:
Manufacturing and Delivery
With the finished system standing at height of seven metres tall and able to support loads of up to five tonne safe working loads, every element of this post jib crane had to be painstakingly manufactured to guarantee best performance.
However, over our more than 48 year history we refined our techniques to ensure not only product quality but also an efficient production process.
Once finished we delivered the various parts of the crane to Yarmouth through our trusted logistics partner. Below is a shot of the crane prior to transportation:
Harbour crane installation
After a long journey from our Telford factory to the Isle of Wight our installation team were able to begin the process of erecting the harbour crane and then carrying out testing and final commissioning to ensure its safety and suitability for use.
