One of the crane systems that we most regularly get asked to manufacture for our clients are KDCs. Also known as A-frame cranes, these versatile lifting solutions can be utilised for a range of applications, typically providing a method of lifting goods for individual workstations.
KDCs consist of a single lifting beam on which the hoist travels, that is supported by two A-frame supporting structures at either end. Like all Pelloby cranes, they are designed to suit each customer’s individual lifting requirement and as such they can vary in size considerably. We recently engineered a particularly large KDC with a span of 8900mm for a client’s Kendal based production facility.
We offer two main options when it comes to A-frames: mobile and fixed cranes. This project utilised a fixed design which means the supporting legs are secured to the concrete workshop floor for extra rigidity and stability. The alternative option involves mounting the KDC on castor wheels allowing it to be moved between different workstations to provide a solution for multiple applications.
This crane for our Kendal client was rated to a safe working load (SWL) capacity of 250kg, and offered a maximum height of lift of 3000mm. Pelloby supplied an electric chain hoist to complete the solution which has dual vertical lifting speeds of 8/2m/min, and manual push horizontal travel along the beam.
