As the UK’s leading manufacturer of jib cranes, we often get asked to design, manufacture and install not just one, but multiple jibs at once. In fact, for some of our customers we have supplied more than 30 jibs over several years.
A Hampshire based client recently asked us to create two post mounted swing jib cranes for different lifting tasks within their organisation. While both were very similar in design and overall specification, the client opted make best use of the fact that our team of talented design engineers, tailor every single crane we produce to the precise application in hand. This allows us to tweak each crane to suit that particular requirement.
Both of these jib cranes were rated to a lifting capacity of 1000kg, utilised electric chain hoists which we also supplied as part of the project, had an overall height of 3500mm, the jib arm was manual push slewing and the hoist operated by a pendant control to give 2 speed hoisting. Another similarity was that they were also painted in a highly visible yellow finish (RAL 1007).
However, there were also some subtle but very important differences. One of the cranes had a total radius or reach of 3500mm, while the other had a slightly larger jib arm of 5000mm. The lift height of each was also ever so different, with the first crane providing 2657mm and the second just 2558mm. While both of the jibs were for indoor applications – these differences in the structure meant they had to be fitted using differing floor fixings – M20 and M24 resin anchors respectively.
