Post jib cranes are probably the product Pelloby are best known for, having been a leading UK manufacturer of these versatile lifting systems for almost 50 years.
We make all of our post jib cranes to order to suit each client’s specific requirements, tailoring the height, radius and lifting capacity to the application in hand. Over the years we have produced post jibs for industries ranging from freight and transportation to production, utilities and energy.
Pelloby are the UK’s leading post jib crane manufacturer, and as a matter of course all our post jib cranes come with a four year extended warranty, and we are also able to offer excellent lead time turnarounds.
Overbraced and underbraced post jib cranes
Our standard post jib cranes come in two different styles – underbraced and overbraced. Both are similar in fact they consist of a vertical post that supports a horizontal jib arm, on to which a hoist can be attached. However they vary in way the in jib arm is supported or braced. See the drop down options below for more differences of the two.
Generally overbraced post jib cranes will be specified for lighter capacity applications or where the required slewing angle is less than 220°, underbraced post jib cranes are more likely to be recommended for lifting heavier loads, for slewing angles between than 220°-270° or where headroom is limited – however this is just a rough guideline and these standard designs can be altered as required.
Note: if the jib is required to swing to an angle greater than 270°, a 360° jib crane design would be used. If an articulation is needed in the arm, an underbraced design would be required.
Maximum lifting capacities for overbraced post jib cranes tend to be around the five tonne mark, whereas we regularly produce underbraced post jib cranes up to and in excess of 10 tonne safe working loads. Manual and motorised slewing operation are both available for any of these post jib crane configuration and full electrics for the arm swing motion or for an electric hoist are supplied as needed.
Post jib crane design and optional extras
We remove the need for a custom intermediate fixing plate to attach a post jib crane to a workplace floor by accounting for this during each jib’s design, rather than adding this as an extra cost as other manufacturers do. This ensures the stability of the product while also representing value for money.
If you require a post jib crane for an outdoor application we can provide several optional extras to improve the usability and lifespan of the system. Hoist canopies, galvanised finishes and stainless steel all offer post cranes protection from the elements when operating in adverse working conditions.
Our post jib cranes can be painted any colour required so they can be modified to reflect your corporate colours or to suit an aesthetical preference. We can also supply parking locks as an additional safety feature when the crane isn’t in use.
Post jib crane floor fixing
Pelloby post jib cranes are designed to be fixed directly to the your workplace floor using resin anchor bolts which are carefully tailored to suit the size of the crane. The viability of this floor fixing method depends on there being a concrete floor of suitable quality that meets a minimum thickness level – our designers will ascertain this information prior to quotation.
If the floor isn’t adequate the post jib crane can be fitted to a concrete block using foundation bolts and a bolt template. Either way we will assure your post jib is safely and securely installed at your premises in the most cost-effective way possible.
